The most Important part of any design is clarity, a clear and accessible design will pay benefits to the web site owner with increased client satisfaction and pride in the website they choose to spend their valuable time looking at.

Flash Design

I have often been asked for a 'flash' website or a 'flashy' website, semantics but they are not one and the same thing a 'flash' based website is part of a old trend towards picture based website with sounds called rich internet applications, this is the clue it is an application that has to be downloaded to your screen and then displayed. If you want to get the maximum number of users using your site/s then it is always best to have an alternative available such as a 'normal' interactive site which with the advancement of technologies such as AJAX and the newer browsers such as firefox and IE7 mean a fully interactive web site can be designed and built without bandwidth hogging flash.

I don't as a matter of course recommend these designs as they are only for specific types of website, however the usefulness has often been overlooked by some, it can be very useful for 'widgets' and 'bits n bobs' that don't use the whole page, like polls and interactive web games. If however you want a fully fledged flash website I can deliver on time and on budget.

Good design doesn't exhaust the user

A good indicator of a good web design is one that doesn't force the user into exhaustion by making the 'learning curve' on the 'look and feel' of the web design hard to navigate and even harder to understand the context of the content in relation to the design.

Design involves some leading edge technology which in some cases will do what is required and in some cases won't.

What happens when it wont?, well that's where creativity in design comes in, good design and a good web designer use their innate creativity to brainstorm new and sometimes unexpected ideas that will get the job done for you.
