Hi Hilary – thanks for the quote! I completely agree that the first priority in any design project is to understand your audience, then use that info to help drive your decisions. In the case of designing author websites, especially new authors, factoring in the best way to give the audience what it wants *and* making sure people can easily find information about the author are important. In most author websites, the audience is often not only the reading public, but also the press, publishers, etc… When an author has some success, or multiple titles, I often recommend having a website for a *book* and having a website for the *author* separately, and linking the two together. This gives you the opportunity to tailor each individually. Happy blogging!
