Why Should You Care?

Because it matters!

Web sites designed just to be pretty, even very very pretty are pretty useless if the search engines cannot ‘see’ them.

A really good example of this is the IMAX.co.za web site. It looks great but if you have a mobile phone, impossible to see.

It is inaccessible to over 80% of the African market, most of whom do not use fixed internet access. That is a huge chunk to be missing out on. In the United Kingdom alone more people are using mobile internet than fixed line access.

This is in spite of the fact that the UK has higher internet penetration into homes using fixed lines than South Africa. For every woman,man and child there are two mobile phones. That is over 70MILLION phones of which 80% are internet enabled.

What does this mean for your business? The answer is simple and effective, make sure your web developers build your site to be standards compliant and offer an alternative if you have to have a flash based site, so that you do not miss out on this huge piece of pie and affect your bottom line.
